Rouse Africa's visit to the Ugandan Registration Services Bureau (URSB)
Carole Theuri from Rouse Africa travelled to Uganda in September 2019 to attend the East Africa WIKIMEDIA strategy summit.
Whilst in Kampala, Carole met with registry staff of URSB. In addition to trademark, copyright and patent services, the URSB provides company and business registration services, as well as various licences and permit applications. It also hosts an IP enforcement unit which directly handles piracy and counterfeit goods complaints and related criminal prosecutions. The unit also conducts IP training for Judges and Magistrates. The visit was very productive and was a great opportunity for Carole to interact with the knowledgeable and friendly Registry staff!
