Biography

Jacob is a Principal, Head of the China Enforcement Group and Head of the Guangzhou office.

Jacob is a highly experienced trademark and unfair competition lawyer, leading Rouse’s China Enforcement Group. He represents some of the most prominent brands on IP matters before the Chinese government authorities and courts.

Whilst undertaking the Lord Chancellor’s Training Scheme for Chinese lawyers at the University of London, Jacob trained at firms in the UK. He holds a degree from Zhongnan University of Economics and Law and works closely with both Chinese and International client alike.

He has significant domain name disputes and online infringement experience and serves as a panelist and arbitrator before the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Centre. He is also a panelist before the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre and Asian Domain Name Dispute Resolution Centre.

Jacob has successively served as a member of the Editorial Committee of the INTA China Bulletin and the INTA Internet Committee.

He also works as CEO of Nexip (a Rouse invested company), providing a one-stop, intelligent IP service for Chinese companies and cross-border E-commerce businesses.

Jacob has extensive knowledge and understanding of brand protection and enforcement with recent projects including:

  • Leading a global anti-counterfeiting program (South-east Asia, Middle East, Russia & Europe) for a leading Chinese telecommunications company
  • Successfully representing Burberry over a trademark infringement and unfair competition dispute.
  • Leading on numerous domain name dispute resolution and litigation cases
  • Acting int the IACC Paris Arbitration case - Osram against Sylvania
