Biography
Tim is a Principal at Rouse Consultancy and advises businesses from developed markets - from MNCs to SMEs - on their intellectual asset strategy and new ventures in China. Based in the UK, Tim frequently returns to China.
Tim helps his clients develop and maintain competitive advantage through the creation, enforcement and commercialisation of their intellectual assets, including their IP rights, in the constantly changing Chinese environment. Tim's clients include major brand, technology and content companies, whom he helps navigate the legal, commercial, regulatory and cultural challenges that China presents.
From 2010 to 2016, Tim headed Rouse’s Beijing office, providing clients with on-the-ground insight into the rapidly developing landscape. He was also vice-chair of the EU China Chamber of Commerce's IP Working Group in Beijing advancing the interests of European business in dialogue with the Chinese Government.
Before joining Rouse in 2008, Tim was Senior Legal Adviser at IFPI, the international trade body for the recording industry for five years, managing international litigation for the industry. Before that, Tim practised at Ashurst in London for eight years as an IP lawyer.
Tim is an active member of the China-Britain Business Council and is a regular speaker at their events in the UK.
