Biography

Carole is an Advocate from Kenya and her main interests lie in copyright in the digital environment and trade mark protection and enforcement in Africa.

Carole is from Kenya and joined the Rouse Africa in October 2015 where she focuses on handling trade mark searches, filing and prosecution of trade marks and copyright matters in Africa with interest in the East Africa region.

Carole is a qualified Advocate of the High Court of Kenya having attained her LLB degree from the University of Kent in the United Kingdom in 2007, called to the Bar in 2010.

Having practiced general law and human rights law, Carole has always had an interest in Intellectual Property, having provided IP advice to innovators and artists as well as providing mediation services for IP disputes. Carole is part of an Intellectual Property consultancy group in Kenya as well as a group of IP enthusiasts who meet on a monthly basis to discuss and share IP issues from the East African region.

In 2013, Carole turned her interest into her main focus area and enrolled in the Master in Intellectual Property Course at Stellenbosch University and is set to graduate in December 2015.

Carole is a driven legal professional whose main interests lie in copyright, trade mark protection and enforcement, Intellectual Property policy and innovation in Africa as well as training and advocacy around IP rights.
